Canvas LMS Design Consultant

About Generation:

Worldwide, more than 75 million young people are unemployed. But many employers can’t find people with the skills they need for entry-level jobs. Generation was created in 2014 to help bridge this gap—at speed and scale.

We’re building a skills-training methodology that can serve hundreds of thousands, and eventually millions, of young people a year. And we’re building proof that this training creates real business outcomes for employers, and lasting career impact for trainees—so everyone has the incentive to invest in skills. Our goal is to help our students achieve personal and professional success—and fundamentally change their life trajectories. Generation programs prepare unemployed or underemployed young people, aged 18 to 29, for jobs in four sectors: healthcare, technology, retail/sales, and skilled trades.

Today, Generation is active in nine countries—99 cities and 256 sites—with diverse social, economic and labor-market contexts.

About our approach:

Generation’s programmatic approach includes operating 3-12 week "bootcamp" trainings for young adults to prepare them for employment in a specific profession. The Generation curriculum team designs curricula for the “bootcamps” across our countries and professions. Trainings are based on the technical and behavioral skills and mindsets specific to a given profession determined by our team’s analysis. Technical and behavioral skills and mindsets are taught and practiced in an integrated way throughout the bootcamp training.

About the role

We are seeking Canvas LMS design consultants to support us as we develop curriculum for online programs hosted on the Canvas LMS (and, at some times, also other LMSs). The consultant will be responsible for transferring instructional content for individual sessions in the bootcamp training onto Canvas under the guidance of lead curriculum designers. The role will start immediately and work will be project-based per global curriculum needs. Ideally, designers will work part-time for the duration of the design process (~4-8 weeks), though additional work may be available. Ideally candidates would have availability for 15-20 hours per week.

Preference will be given to candidates fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Urdu, Traditional Chinese, Hindi, or Italian, in addition to English. Preference will also be given to candidates who live in one of the countries Generation serves including: Australia, Brazil, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA and who are available to work across different time zones.

    • Adhere to Generation style guide and curricular standards
    • Learn and apply LTI tools
    • Address issues around accessibility by remediating existing content
